International Engineering Design Challenge (IEDC)

Excursion

Workshop participants come from a variety of nationalities and fields of expertise.
In order for participants with such different cultural backgrounds to communicate actively and easily with each other, the first and most important factor is to get to know each other and other team members through non-linguistic experiences.
To this end, in addition to the didactic program, fun card games, hands-on experience in making things, and excursions to the surrounding area of the host city are planned for the team members to act and explore together.

How to hold the event, etc.

The making experiences and excursions may be unrelated to the theme of the workshop.
Excursion activities should be group activities in order to form teamwork.
The first session should be held on the first day of the workshop or at the beginning of the second day to effectively trigger communication within the team.
The second session should be held in the latter part of the workshop, before the final presentation, to relieve fatigue during the workshop, increase the sense of unity within the team, and further strengthen teamwork skills, leading to the brushing up of ideas within the team. The strengthening of relationships can be expected to continue even after the workshop is over.
